Authentic TUSCAN bean pot (fiasco per fagioli) This beautiful terra cotta pot is hand made in Italy from terra di fuoco clay. It is lightly glazed with a rustic patina. This item is authenticated as "fatto a mano", which means that it was hand made by Italian artisans and bears the stamp (RBS) of the potters. The gorgeous terra cotta glazing is a perfect addition to your kitchen decor,especially if you like the Rustic Tuscan style. This pot is fully functional and is designed to resist the stress of direct flames from the oven or fire. Food cooked in these pots has a unique smell and taste and can be cooked with a low flame because it retains strong heat for long periods of time. The small opening at the top allows the beans to cook to perfection and is the only truly authentic way to cook the Tuscan bean dishes. The manufacturer recommends that the pots be pre-treated by pouring in some milk, heating it for a few minutes, then throwing out the milk and washing it thoroughly. It is also important not to subject the pot to extremes in temperature (from the fridge to the stove for example) Keep the flame low and if it is higher, use a small metal or steel piece, so that the flame isn't concentrated in one spot.
