Daniel Cayaya is a police official in the small town of Guayaramerin. He told The Associated Press that his 18-year-old man was drunk when he jumped out of a canoe near the city of Rosario del Yata, 400 miles (640 kilometers) North of the capital of La Paz.
The bloody dead Cayaya said after the attack, which took place last Thursday. The first incident came Tuesday, when he reported by radio station Erbol.
Cayaya says police suspect suicide because the person is a fisherman in the area knows Yata River.
